Malaria and Typhoid Fever Coinfection among Febrile Patients in Ngaoundéré (Adamawa, Cameroon): A Cross-Sectional Study

Background. Malaria and typhoid fever remain the major cause of morbidity mortality in tropical subtropical countries. It is common today to see patients being concurrently infected or treated for two diseases. Objective. The aim present study was determine prevalence malaria, fever, their coinfection among febrile at Ngaoundéré Regional Hospital, Adamawa, Cameroon. Methodology. A cross-sectional descriptive conducted on 208 coming medical consultation Hospital suspected malaria and/or from September November 2019. After receiving consent each patient, clinical sociodemographic information were collected using a pretested semistructured questionnaire. Thereafter, blood samples subjected (i) film examination detection (ii) qualitative semiquantitative Widal assay detection. Results. Plasmodium falciparum only species identified, 50.0% ( n = 104 ). seroprevalence 64.3% id="M2"> 133 30.3% id="M3"> 63 between S. paratyphi (A, B, C) also observed with ranging 32.2 63.9%. Female group children 2 10 years old most affected groups by infectious agents. Conclusion. Typhoid more prevalent City, particularly women. Further studies should be done risk factors different areas.
